The Product Leadership Leap
A course for senior product managers who are ready for people leadership, but keep getting overlooked.
Are you a senior product manager who wants to make the leap into people leadership, and keep getting overlooked?
Perhaps you applied for a role, and your colleague got it (and now they’re your boss ouch!).
Or someone external “with more experience” was hired in over the top of you leaving you to wonder how you’ll ever get the experience if you’re never given the chance.

THE PROBLEM
Sound familiar?
Often the reasons shared with you are vague or something you have very little control over. When you ask how you can get people leadership experience in your current role, the response leaves you feeling like you have a better chance at winning the lottery!
This happened to me earlier in my career, and I found it incredibly frustrating. Talking to SPMs recently, this frustration is still very real today.
I’ve researched the market and found traditional Australian courses that focus purely on the functional mechanics of being a leader once you arrive, like managing team resources, headcount, and complex product strategies. Which are all great, if you’re already in the role and have a chance to practice them.
But I couldn’t find a program that focuses entirely on the missing puzzle piece: the internal politics, senior stakeholder visibility, how you’re perceived, and personal mindset shifts required for the people making hiring decisions to consider you for the role in the first place. That’s why I designed this course for you.
The Product Leadership Leap is a career development course for experienced Senior Product Managers who want to transition from individual contributor roles into their first people leadership role, such as Group Product Manager, Head of Product or Product Director.
I teach you what I learned through years of trial and error, researching subconscious bias – the unwritten rules that I only discovered after making that leap myself.
While I have the utmost respect for Silicon Valley greats—and use their frameworks for the product craft daily—becoming a leader requires a different playbook. You don't need to be better at product; you are already great at it. You need someone to give you the chance to lead, and standard product courses simply don't teach you how to get that chance.
The Product Leadership Leap is explicitly built for the unique dynamics of the Australian tech landscape.
The curriculum focuses specifically on career progression inside product organisations operating in Australia: how Senior Product Managers build visibility, influence senior stakeholders, attract sponsorship and demonstrate leadership readiness before they have the next title.
The question we’re really answering is: How do I become perceived as someone the organisation should promote into Product leadership?
THE CURRICULUM
In this course, you will learn:
01
How I made the leap from SPM into people leader, and eventually into CPO.
02
How to get to the heart of what’s holding you back from getting to the next level.
How to take control of your career with techniques and strategies to help you get the visibility and sponsorship needed for the next level.
03
How to take control of your career with techniques and strategies to help you get the visibility and sponsorship needed for the next level.
04
The things that can hold you back – whether consciously or subconsciously – that people rarely say aloud.
05
How other senior people in the industry made this leap, and what helped them on their career journey. You’d be surprised to hear how often the thing you think you need to do, and what you actually needed were worlds apart.
06
While we can’t guarantee a promotion from this course, people often find spending focused learning time and talking to others about it, can help them be more prepared when the opportunity comes up again.
This group cohort is capped at 12 participants, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to connect with peers, discuss challenges, and get ideas to help you advance your career.
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
I’m currently seeking expressions of interest to see if there is enough demand for a course like this; with the intention to run it in November should the demand be high enough.
HOW WILL THE COURSE WORK
I’ve heard time and time again, people don’t want courses that go over weeks. So this one will be 2x 2.5 hour sessions, a week apart. This is intentional because it gives you time to think about the learnings, gather intel, and access to ask questions.
It’s concentrated, fast-paced and will require some work between sessions. We give you the tools and teach you how to use them.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST
$750 + GST
Introductory cohort offer. Usual price is $1,250 + GST.
Compared to other live courses out there, this is a really good deal. I’m a solo operator, without the overheads of an entire team, so I can keep the costs reasonable for you.

OPTIONAL ADD ON
Expert leadership psychometrics
We’re all unique people with our own strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots. If you want deeper insight into how you naturally operate at work, you can add the SHL OPQ32 Occupational Personality Questionnaire to your program.
Because this tool is strictly restricted to accredited practitioners, you can't just buy it online. In a past life (we all have them in Product!), I was a psychometrics practitioner. I am uniquely qualified to select, administer, interpret, and debrief your results safely with you.
You’re not simply receiving a generic report. We will map your profile directly against the common core competencies companies look for when hiring people leaders.
Psychometric assessment is commonly used in executive recruitment, so it’s always a good idea to get some practice in early – and leverage the insights to help you work on the areas that could be holding you back based on objective data (not just someone else’s subjective opinion).
WHAT YOU’LL GET
The SHL OPQ32r Assessment to map your core working preferences.
The Universal Competency Report showing how your working style may support or challenge you across 20 key workplace competencies.
A private 1:1 debrief session with Bec to unpack and interpret your results against common leadership competencies.
OPTIONAL INVESTMENT
$650 + GST
Note: This optional extra is not automatically included with the course. Should you wish to access this exclusive offer, please select it as an option when you register your interest. Total investment for both the course and the psychometric profile is $750 + $650 = $1,400 + GST.
Senior Product Managers who want to make the leap into people management, but aren’t sure how. It’s better suited to SPMs who are already employed as the techniques and strategies are designed to be applied in a workplace setting.
Who is this course for?
Who is this course not for?
GPMs, Heads of, VPs, Product Directors who are already in a people leadership role. The skills you need to master at this point are completely different and there are already plenty of courses on the market that cover these skills.
People who are currently between jobs. While I empathise that it’s a tough market out there, the program is designed around influence and visibility at your current workplace. If you’re looking for assistance to land your next gig, I recommend Robyn Mitchell at Job Search Essentials.

Hi [Manager Name],
I am looking at a targeted professional development opportunity coming up in November called The Leadership Leap, designed specifically for Senior PMs wanting to progress into people leadership as the next step in their career. This is the direction I want my career to head in.
Unlike standard courses that focus purely on general product strategy frameworks, this program focuses directly on getting promotion ready. It targets the skills needed to increase visibility and communicate like a leader so I can successfully transition into people leadership when an opportunity becomes available.
Format & Commitment:
Duration: 2x 2.5-hour concentrated virtual live sessions (spaced one week apart to ensure zero disruption to my core product delivery).
Cohort Style: Capped at 12 senior peers for high-quality knowledge sharing. Min cohort is 4 peple to go ahead.
The current introductory cohort pricing is $750 + GST (saving $500 off the standard rate). Given the direct relevance to my career path here, I’d love to secure a spot using my training budget.
There is an optional add-on for a psychometric profile assessment (SHL OPQ32r), a report, and private debrief for an additional $650 + GST, which would give us an objective benchmark of my current leadership competencies to look over in our 1:1s.
Are you supportive of me expensing this training? I’d love to submit my expression of interest before the cohort caps out or closes on 30 September.
Best,

It would if your instructor was inexperienced. I was a lead instructor at General Assembly, a global tech education provider, where I taught the 10 week product management foundations twice a week to students all over the world. I’ve created and taught training courses like “Feedback Tips and Tricks” and “Languages of Appreciation at Work” at THE ICONIC, while running sessions like “How to run a remote Design Sprint” for the Product Practice for Woolworths Group, as well as targeted training sessions for the product and technology teams at Marketplacer. I’ve also been mentoring and coaching up-and-coming product managers and product leaders since 2020.
I’m confident I can design and run a course that will provide value. So much so, if you attend the full course and are unsatisfied it met the course objectives and notify me within two days of the course concluding, I’ll give you your money back*.
*Money-back guarantee applies to the core program fee only and is subject to eligibility criteria. Terms & Conditions apply.
-
Please double, triple-check you can make both classes before you buy a ticket. There will be no refunds for change of mind.
Life happens. If exceptional circumstances pop up, we’ll try our best to move you to an alternative cohort time if space permits. However, we cannot offer partial or full refunds for missed sessions.
Please note: Refunds are strictly unavailable for the Expert Leadership Psychometrics add-on, as the questionnaire, report, and setup costs are paid directly to a third-party vendor upon registration.
If the course is unable to go ahead due to low enrolment, you’ll receive a full refund for the core program.
Please see full Terms & Conditions for more details.
-
While the classes will be recorded for quality purposes, they will not be made available to participants. This is to encourage everyone to feel comfortable sharing openly in a class setting, knowing only the people in the room will be privy to the conversation.

WHY DO THIS COURSE
You can spend another year of trial and error, or you can take control of your career and get yourself better prepared for the next time a GPM, Head of, or Director role is available.
While there is currently a high quality of senior candidates in the market, you have an advantage – you already know the business, and you are ready to take the step up – you just need the people making the hiring decisions to see you in the same way.
